Safety is Priority Number One:

Protecting Every Participant in Sport

What is Safe Sport?

Safe Sport programs are designed to create safe, inclusive, and respectful environments in sports by providing training and resources to prevent and address abuse, harassment, and discrimination.

Safe Sport empower participants with the knowledge and tools to recognize and prevent maltreatment in sports settings.

Safe Sport is for everyone

Safe Sport programs are comprehensive and designed to include everyone involved in an athletic organization or supporting an athlete, ensuring a safe and respectful environment across all levels of sport.

As of April 1, 2020, all Sport Canada-funded organizations are required to provide Safe Sport training to everyone under their authority, from decision-makers like senior staff and board members to those with direct athlete contact, such as coaches, high-performance staff, and national team athletes.

The training also extends to those with no direct athlete contact, including volunteers, administrative staff, and event organizers. This inclusive approach ensures that everyone, regardless of their role, is equipped with the knowledge and skills to recognize, address, and prevent maltreatment in sports.

Goal Hounds Coaches are Safe Sport Certified

All of our coaches are Safe Sport certified, ensuring they have the necessary training to create a secure and supportive environment for every athlete. This certification reflects our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety, inclusivity, and respect in all aspects of our programs.

A Valuable Resource for Parents

We've all been there—wanting to encourage our kids and be supportive, but sometimes getting a bit too excited or competitive. Whether it's an offhand remark or a fleeting intense moment, it's important that we all work together to create a safe and supportive environment for our children.

We strongly encourage parents to take the Safe Sport course, as it provides valuable insights into maintaining a safe and positive environment for their children in sports.

The course is free and accessible to anyone interested in learning how to recognize and prevent maltreatment in sports. By participating, parents can gain a deeper understanding of the standards we uphold and become active partners in promoting a safe and inclusive experience for all athletes.

Rule of Two

At Soccer Hounds, we strictly adhere to the "Rule of Two" to ensure the safety and integrity of our coaching environment.

This rule stipulates that there must always be two screened adults present during any training sessions or activities involving minors. By enforcing this guideline, we create a safer space for athletes and ensure transparency in all interactions.

This approach helps protect both the players and the coaches, fostering a secure and supportive atmosphere where everyone can focus on developing their skills and enjoying the game.
